My mission is to help people feel better in their bodies. I believe that full body conditioning as envisioned by Joseph Pilates is the best way to achieve this.
HRN Pilates offers Authentic Pilates, using Gratz apparatus built from the original design specifications and mechanics of Joseph Pilates’ own equipment. HRN Pilates has daily offerings of private, duet, and mat classes. Private and duet sessions are composed of a combination of apparatus and mat work.
Hilary Norcross was a professional ballet dancer first dancing with Mary Day’s the Washington Ballet, and then with Mikhael Baryshnikov’s American Ballet Theatre. Exposure to Pilates went part and parcel with a dancer’s life. Magic Circles and mat work were constant companions. During her time with ABT, Hilary trained at the Robert Fitzgerald studio on 56th street.
After leaving dance, Hilary went on to get her personal training certificate through NASM and her group fitness certificate through ACE. After a hip injury and bursitis sidelined her training, Hilary returned to Pilates. Hilary explored contemporary Pilates studios before finding her home when she visited Metropolitan Pilates and trained with the classical method. After a year of training, she entered the apprentice program and went through a rigorous 700+ hour training certification with second-generation teacher Dorothee Wandewalle at Metropolitan Pilates.
Upon a family move to the Central Coast of California in 2015, Hilary opened her home studio and began teaching. Her studies and work with Dorothee has provided her with a foundation of training to put together a system of exercises tailored specifically for each client based on age and fitness goals while taking into account any prior injuries or limitations.
